Akwa Ibom Police Uncover Fake Drink Factory In Oruk Anam [PHOTOS]



Akwa Ibom State Police Command has recorded another milestone in the fight against crime in the state, even as the new Commissioner, CP Murtala Usman Mani, psc, vows to make life unbearable for criminals in Akwa Ibom.

To match words with action, the State Police command had on Thursday, 3rd September, arrested two suspects who specialise in the production and distribution of fake and adulterated wine and hot drinks in the State.
The suspects are; one Unyime Monday Udoh, Male, and one Nsidibe Sunday, Male, while one Dennis Johny, Male, the owner of the illegal factory is at large.

According to the police, the suspects who were arrested by the command’s Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) after a tip-off, used to produce the fake and substandard products in an unhygienic and unregulated environment with fake NAFDAC number.
The premises of the production factory according to the Police, is located at Ekparakwa, Oruk Anam Local Government Area.
It was gathered that the suspects, after the production, distribute the products and sell to unsuspecting members of the public at the same rate as the original product which cause a lot of health hazards to consumers.

While lamenting over this sad incident which has taken lives of many unsuspected consumers, the Akwa Ibom State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Cordelia Nwawe, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), described the incident as an unfortunate one, and promised that "the State Police Command under the watchful eyes of CP Murtala Mani, will go after every person behind this act and prosecute them accordingly.
Some of the items recovered from the suspects are Volvo wagon car stocked with cartons of adulterated Eva wine, a bowl of chemical believed to be ethanol with colour, cartons of Omega Aromatic schnapps, labels of assorted drinks, cartons of St Remy whisky, Hennessy, Three Barrels whisky, Ponche, Martino, 501, Chelsea, Squadron and many more.

ASP Nwawe, on behalf of the State Police Command, however advised the general public to be wary of where they buy drinks, beverages and food items in order to prevent any negative impact on their health.

Meanwhile, the Police Public Relations Officer, has assured the people of the state of adequate security of their lives and property, urging them to be of help to the force in the State, by giving useful information to them.

She however warned criminals in the state to desist or be ready for serious battle with the police under the leadership of CP Mani.
