The moment former Guatemalan president learnt he is headed for prison hours after his resignation
Otto Perez Molina, 64, was sent to jail hours after tendering his
resignation as president of Guatemala for his role in a
multimillion-dollar customs fraud case. His vice president, Alejandro
Maldonado, was sworn in as president on Thursday afternoon, after
Congress voted to accept the resignation. He is the first president in
Guatemalan history to resign over a corruption scandal.
