Read the epic revelations by the Net Ng;

Have you wondered why it took a total of 5 months for Mavin Records to drop the video for one of the biggest songs of 2015? Korede Bello‘s ‘Godwin’ was released on January 28, 2015 and in just 12 hours, the song became an instant hit.

Naturally, you would expect a video for the song the next month or thereabout but guess what, Don Jazzy is a businessman who clearly saw the business and branding opportunities of the song and decided to explore them.

Mavin Records could have easily shot a video for the song in a month, but with the prospects of the song, brands started approaching the label for sponsorship and branding opportunities to be part of the video.

Sources in the Mavins camp revealed to NET that over 10 brands were interested and at a point it was a stiff competition between two of the country’s biggest banks, GTBank and Access bank for the first line of the song which says ‘I don get alert #Godwin’. Eventually Access Bank got the nod.

Shot on location in Lagos by Adasa Cookey, another point of the song branded is the ‘I don pay my rent #Godwin’ line sponsored by Lekki Gardens.

For the records, sources say the label didn’t incur any cost in making this video, rather they made money from it.

In the words of Korede Bello, ‘From the inception of Godwin, I knew that it wasn’t my song, I knew that anything that’s for God has the potential of growing bigger than you imagine.’

And that is as true as he can get.
